ACCUPLACER
Computerized Test Information
ACCUPLACER is web-based and evaluates student’s skills in Writing, Reading and Math. In cooperation with NCMC, Dr. Henke is able to administer this test at PHS. The test items are multiple choice (except for Writing) and are untimed. The exams are adaptive with the difficulty of each exam adjusted to the individual student, as they move through the exam. Scores are based on the number of correct responses and the level of difficulty of the correctly answered questions. Students may take the entire test or only the sections the
This test is used both as placement test for dual-credit classes and as entry scores for many technical colleges.
Test Timing: This is an untimed exam.
Retesting: You may complete ACCUPLACER testing multiple times. You may test two times in a month, but not more than one time in a single day.
Cost: PHS will pay for one administration of this test but the student is responsible for paying any additional administrations. The cost is $3 PER UNIT. Reading takes one unit per tester, writing takes two units per tester, and math varies between one and two, depending on the student’s skill. So, depending on what subtests a student is taking, it could cost between $3-15.
Test Scores: A score report will be printed out upon completion of the test session. The score will be entered on to the student’s transcript and the student may take the report with them.
See Mrs. Hall with questions or to schedule a test.
